New Jersey Economic Development Authority Bioscience Incubator Analysis
The New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) commissioned BJH to develop a report on the economic impacts of the North Brunswick Bioscience Center Incubator (BCI) and the tenant companies it has hosted in the 20 years since its founding. The study included numerous interviews with biotechnology companies that were former or current tenants at the incubator. BJH also conducted a robust annual and total economic impact analysis from 2002 to 2023. The analysis leveraged IMPLAN to model multiplier effects associated with the economic activity generated by BCI tenants and graduates in New Jersey. Economic impacts were presented in terms of direct, indirect, and induced effects and emphasized impacts on employment, labor income, and output on both an annual and cumulative basis.
