BJH Welcomes Steve Jacobs as Director/ Institutional Practice Leader
BJH Advisors is pleased to announce that Steve Jacobs has joined our firm as Director and leader of our institutional practice. Steve brings over 20 years of experience as a planning and economic development professional and has served as an advisor and strategist to a wide range of public sector, private sector, and higher education clients. Steve combines his strong national focus on institutional and local government clients with his deep knowledge of New York City’s development and government landscape.
Steve has served BJH as a Strategic Advisor since 2016, a role in which he has led a study of New York City’s tourism and culture infrastructure for the New York Building Congress, hotel industry market and socioeconomic studies for the New York City Department of City Planning, an economic development strategy for the Downtown St. Louis Garment District, and a recently completed Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy for Westchester County.
As an independent consultant, Steve worked on a life sciences strategy plan for the Long Island City Partnership and an innovation plan for the City of Hoboken. Before his work with BJH Advisors, Steve was a Vice President and Senior Advisor at a private firm, where he served as lead project manager for planning and development projects for many of that firm’s academic clients, including Rutgers and Cornell. Steve also worked for the New York City Economic Development Corporation (EDC), where he was Vice President in the Transportation division and led EDC’s life sciences initiative.
Steve holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History from George Washington University and a Master’s in Public Administration from Columbia University.
