Edward Lamson, AICP, Principal
Edward Lamson AICP is a Principal and Co-Director of Urban Planning at BJH. As co-leader of the Urban Planning practice, Edward draws from his background in policy and advocacy to devise comprehensive planning solutions and real estate analyses for private and public sector clients. His recent projects at BJH include serving as urban planning policy specialist for PlaNYC - New York City’s long-term strategic climate plan; developing investment strategies for over $200 million in projects located on Long Island in Westbury, Amityville, and Huntington Station through the New York State Downtown Revitalization Initiative; coordinating socioeconomic studies under State Environmental Quality Review Act and City Environmental Quality Review related to the New York Penn Station Area, Belmont Park Redevelopment, Atlantic Avenue Mixed-Use Rezoning, and the Science Park and Research Campus (SPARC) Kips Bay.
Edward completed his Masters in Urban Planning at Harvard University and is an accredited member of the American Institute of Certified Planners.
Prior to BJH, he worked in Mexico City at an engineering practice on water sustainability and infrastructure projects. He previously clerked for the Attorney General of Ontario in Toronto, Canada at the environment and land tribunals division. While there, he advised decision-makers on green energy infrastructure projects, zoning and master plan appeals, and real estate development proposals.

For the Staten Island Economic Development Corporation, advising on potential rezoning opportunities and neighborhood revitalization strategies for New Dorp Lane District
For the Staten Island Economic Development Corporation, advising on potential development opportunities for the 2020 Comprehensive Economic Development Plan including development opportunities, vacant parcel site analysis, existing conditions, and implementation and stakeholder strategies
For the Clearwater (Florida) Redevelopment Agency, providing analysis for a downtown tenant incentive program
For the Bedford-Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation, conducting analysis and report related to rezoning efforts for a neighborhood block and existing conditions research related to parcel ownership, zoning parameters, and rezoning/planning approvals for a new commercial development hub
For the Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation, performing research into possible redevelopment opportunities and state/local redevelopment programs for non-profits and manufacturing businesses
For the Family Services Network of New York, providing urban planning guidance on their Brownfield Planning Area Report including site selection, zoning analysis, existing neighborhood conditions, and implementation strategies
For various clients, assembling a pro forma analysis for development projects in New York and New Jersey
